2019 Mobile Photography Prize FAQs

Who can participate?

Everyone - photographers, amateurs, mobile geeks, etc… from all over the world.


What devices are eligible for entry?

You can use all Smartphones (iPhones, Huawei, Android phones, Windows phones, your old Nokia, etc...) and tablets (iPad, Samsung Galaxy, etc...). Photos taken using an iPod touch are also eligible for entry.


Can I use apps on my phone or tablet to process or edit my photos?

Yes, absolutely. You can use any app or any combination of apps to improve your images before submission.


Can I edit my application after submission?

Currently, you can not edit the photos nor the supporting information after you have successfully completed the payment and received a submission confirmation - even if the deadline is still some days/weeks away. For this reason, we recommend that you take the time to double check everything before proceeding to payment.


How many photos can I upload?

There is no limit, yet you can only submit a maximum of 10 per application. If you wish to submit more, you must start a new application. Please note that if you apply again, the multiple image discounts will be reset. What does this mean? If you upload, for example, 4 pictures at £15, you will not earn credit to upload an extra image in a second application.


What photo size is recommended?

The maximum size allowed is 10MB per photo, yet we recommend that you upload lighter files to facilitate the upload process. As a reference, we suggest that you upload files at least 500px on the longest side with a weight around 2MB.


What photo formats are accepted?

You can upload photos in JPG and PNG format. TIFF and other formats are currently not accepted.


Is the order of the photos important?

No, it is not. Each photo will be judged individually and independently from the others you present in your application.


Which category should I select?

We ask for a category in order to simplify the judges’ review process. That said, the category is just a reference and will not exclude the picture from any of the possible prizes.


Are text, category, and location mandatory?

No, they are not. Yet feel free to provide them if you think they can add value or relevant information to the picture.


Do I need model releases for my photos?

As you can read more extensively in the Terms and Conditions, we are not liable in the event one of the subjects portrayed in your work complains and/or even starts legal action against us because he/she did not consent to that photo. For this reason, we will not ask for the model releases, unless those kinds of situation arise. Bearing that in mind, please feel free to apply, unless you think there might be any risks in that sense. For more information, please read our Terms and Conditions.


How much is the entry fee?

For this edition, the entry fee is free for 1 image, £10 for up to 5 images, and £15 for up to 10 images until 23 May at 11:59pm (GMT time). From May 24 until the deadline, the fee will instead be £5 for 1 image, £15 for up to 5 images, and £20 for up to 10 images.


How can I pay the entry fee?

Currently, the accepted methods are credit card, Apple Pay, and Paypal.


How do I know my project was successfully submitted?

You will see a confirmation message just after completing the payment, and receive a confirmation email at the email address you signed up with. You will also see a copy of your submission featured in your PHmuseum profile.


Where can I download the invoice for my submission?

You can always download it from the link you will find in the submission confirmation email.


How many times can I apply?

Are collaborative submission accepted?

Yes, collaborative images are more than welcome. Please create a joint profile in order to credit all the authors.


Can I present photos that I already submitted to a previous edition?

Yes, the independent panel of judges has changed from the previous editions, and they will assign the prizes according to their own criteria. So, you’re welcome to present the same photos again.


Is the online payment procedure secure? Do you store any credit card details?

We do not take or store any payment details on our servers. Our payments are securely processed via Stripe, Paypal, and Apple Pay, which are widely recognised services through which we accept payments. How do I recover my password?

In order to recover your password please:

  • - go to phmuseum.com
  • - click on the Log In button in the top right corner of the page
  • - click on "Forgot your password"
  • - go to your email account, open the email from PHmuseum and follow the guided process

Please note that the Reset Password link expires after 60 minutes for security matters. If you do not click on the link you receive via email within an hour, you will need to ask for a new one.
