ŏrīgo

"ŏrīgo", from the Latin "ŏrīgo, originis" is a personal project born from the need to investigate my origins, to be able to know and understand myself.

It is a subsequent work to the series of self-portraits entitled

"cercandomiperdo", which translated would be “looking for me I

lose myself”.

I stopped looking for myself into my own reflection on screen, to look instead at my origins: my mother, my father and my sister.

The subtitle of "ŏrīgo" is "cercandomitrovo”: “looking for me I find myself”.

I started thinking about those gestures, those flavors and smells that remind me of my family.

My dad knows me, and he knows I don't like peeling oranges, I'm too lazy.

So he always does it for me, even before I ask him to.

Every time I eat an orange, I think of him.

Mom removes her make-up every night with cotton.

The smell of the facial cleanser brings me home.

Every time I take off my makeup, I see her reflection in the mirror.

My sister is the ground on which I walk.

She is my greatest support.

I walk as I walk thanks to her.

I wish I could stop time.

I wonder how much I look like them.

I am who I am thanks to them?

Their eyes are my eyes.

Their smiles are my smiles.
