Stracciafotografia is a small collage series of half ripped photographs, discarded because deemed inadequate for their original purpose. The image on paper is reassigned and used as a stencil to draw a line. This exercise is the first attempt to abandon photography as a loyal tool for the representation of reality and move towards a physical evaluation of the photographic object.
The title derives from the term ‘stracciafoglio’ that is used to describe a scrapbook on which to take notes and numerous erasures. Stracciafoglio is also the name of a two-year collection of poems by Edoardo Sanguineti.
