Small City, Big Soul

By Pham Phuoc Nhut Minh

The most prominent city in Vietnam, Hochiminh city, or Saigon, has most of its residents coming from other provinces to study and work there. I am one of them.

The pressure imposed from work and life in a crowded metropolis weighs heavy on each individual. I use my photography practice as a way to release my inner thoughts, and to learn about the world surrounding me from a different angle - more effortless and peaceful.

In this photo series, I intend to find isolated places, in order to get a break from the suffocating atmosphere. So I focus mainly on people and the environment they inhabit, the subjects are arbitrary, yet featuring the high contrast between the natural landscape and the changing background of the city.
