Generation Poor by Annabel Oosteweeghel

Generation Poor is a project yearning to unveil that prosperous countries such as the Netherlands are not immune to poverty and hardship.

Generation Poor makes visible the lives of those who have become invisible.

Through 20 intimate portraits of diverse people living in poverty in the Netherlands - along with their personal statements and stories - Generation Poor gives these individuals an opportunity to share their truth on their own terms.

As a response to us growing accustomed to merely gazing at these individuals from afar, Generation Poor invites the spectator to enter where most people do not dare to: with the help of short one-minute videos operating as moving pictures, one gets a close insight on such lives.

Per an intimate approach, Generation Poor aspires to bring back importance to a problem we sadly have tended to become numb to.
