Bio

Rocco Venezia is a photographer and works as a curator for PHmuseum. He holds a first-class honour degree in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales (UK). Nekyia, his first monograph has been published in 2017 by Witty Books (former Witty Kiwi), the volume is now part of the collection of The National Art Library at V&A Museum (UK) while was listed as one of the best books of the year by Photo-Eye (US). In 2018 Rocco has been selected as one of the 2nd Cycle emerging artists by Parallel Platform and in the scope of this program, started to produce a new body of work expressing a metaphysical view of Southern Europe. Both his projects have been exhibited in several galleries (ISSP Gallery 2019, Capa Center 2019, Galleri Image 2019) and festivals (Organ Vida 2018, Obscura Festival 2018). Next to his personal practice, Rocco works as curator and producer for PHmuseum since 2017, in synergy with platform's director Giuseppe Oliverio, he develops the editorial line and the curatorial activities of the online community. Lately, Rocco has worked on the concept and editing of Familiar Stranger a collective book published by PHmuseum in January 2020. Rocco is also co-founder and director of Photo Meliggoi, a residency program which hosts every year one photographer in Meliggoi, a small village in North-Western Greece.
