Frozen Rooms: What happens is that even buildings take a long winter’s nap. We're talking about whole towns that fall asleep for a long time, waiting to be awakened by the incoming tourists, quieter and shy the first ones, more intrusive the others. A forced hibernation that leaves the buildings hanging in time and space, cyclically, year after year. A rotation made of preservation rituals that leave the spaces barely recognizable when compared to the high season setup. They are not abandoned, but frozen, they are alive, but moving extremely slowly, almost still. The architectural casing finally appears as it was originally designed, two-dimensional sceneries untouched by human interaction. We investigated this metamorphosis, that nothing can do but silently wait. So we sat down, too, in this great waiting room and look.
