The City of Culture in Santiago de Compostela, the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, the City of Circus in Alcorcón are, among others, newly created cultural spaces wich have jeopartized autonomous culture on budgetary grounds: their economic unsustainability has left some of these buildings unfinished, lacking a defined development plan or destined to a sporadic use.
The spaces, wich I call Cultural Containers, are public works: peculiar pharaonic infrestructures, with an extremely elevated cost, designed by renowned architects but empty of content.
This work wants to give a generalized vision of the immensity of these projects as well as of their blatant lack of use to encourage the spectator to think about the benefits of the ostentation policies that have been carried out in Spain and the necessary turn towards a model wich promotes a base culture.
