Shadowlands

Cynthia Johnston

2018 - Ongoing

These landscapes represent the doubt and anxiety I feel about my country's future under our current president. Division and racial injustice continue to rise. Science ignored, environmental regulations ignored or rolled back. Big business rules. And the constant bickering everywhere. Families ties frayed, voices raised, good will diminished, anger augmented. Who exactly is our neighbor, our colleague, our brother/sister? Can we trust each other?

As I traveled through 15 + states over the last 15 months, it is clear that we have much conversing and mending to accomplish. My aim is contribute to the understanding and compassion we need to have for each other so that we can move forward as a nation.
