THE GIRLS CLUB is an ongoing project of numerous self-portraits dealing with the hype of a generic beauty of the own (female) face.

Several apps promise to fulfill the desire for ageless and crease free faces, that tell the viewer about health, youth and happiness of the represented identity. Taking those retouch tools as a technique of image and identity-optimisation, I created a series of selfies to redefine female identity and virtual representation standards, lead by a contemporary internet gaze.

Through the excessive "over-doing" of the process, my obvious identity is blurred until the point of unidentifiability. Each portrait is assigned with a pseudonym which I used in offline and online contexts over the past years.

The images are later printed on silk, which gives them a fragile, skin-like digital and haptic softness.
