Ellas, being women

Colombian photographer (b. 1985). She currently is interested in developed her personal photographic work, where the content and story behind each image is the main purpose. Her main interest is dedicated to issues related to gender and feminism.

Through the photography I have discovered a particular interest in exploring what it means to be a woman. I have come across different interpretations, different ways of approaching the feminine and externalizing it.

Revealing the layers that make up femininity and understanding that we are not made in one way. I meet transgender and powerful women who were born with a gender that the society says it does not correspond to their identity. Women who in a country like ours are armed every day of courage to uncover and make known their experiences.

My intention in approaching these women is to break the taboos imposed by society around this issue. Portraying them in order to humanize them and show their natural character, trying to define the thin line that exists between being born a woman and being a woman.
