The Archive of Oblivion 1° Passage

This is the kind of oblivion that results from the passage of time, which may sometimes entail the actual loss of information. If the passage of time prevents our memory from connecting with the past events and thoughts that define who we are, we lose a significant part of our identity. I like to work with images of places, objects and portraits that for different causes (natural or circumstantial) no longer exist. Much in the same way as in a laboratory experiment, the photographs were exposed to natural and chemical elements that had an effect on the original image. I documented their process of degradation and discovered other interpretations of what wear and tear means, creating new representations of the passage of time.
